how much resin?

Putting a new floor in my boat....how much resin should I buy to do approx. 6 ft x 8 ft section?

I used 2 gallons of resin for my transom and floor replacement. My floor is about 4 x 10 ft.

I went through about 3.5 gallons for my transom and stringers (transom is only 2/3 the width of boat and I amy only doing back 1/2 of the stringers). I just ordered another 2 gallons for my floor. I always seem to use more than I originally anticipated (maybe I am just putting it on thick).

I would highly recommend www.mertons.com for supplies. (Poly is currently $25/gallon). He will answer any questions as well.

It's calculated by weight in the industry. A formula for estimating resin is 1oz of resin for every oz of cloth weight and 2oz of resin for mat weight. It's calculated in sq ft or sq yds depending on what type fabric you are using:

Mat weight is measured in sq ft
Cloth weight is measured sq yds


Example:
2oz mat weighs 2oz per sq ft or 18oz per sq yd. It takes 4oz of resin to wet one sq ft or 36oz resin to wet out one sq yd.

18oz woven roven weighs 2oz per sq ft or 18oz per sq yd. It takes 2oz of resin per sq ft or 18oz resin to wet one sq yd.
