Hi all, I'm looking to replace my boat. A dealer here has an '84 skeeter dual console with no motor, no accessories, and wants $1250 for it. Is this too much? He says the floor and transom are solid, assuming they are, how much is this boat actually worth? I will be putting my old engine on it. Thanks!!

If he's offering it for $1250........ You can take it home for $1000..........

So,.......... I'd go Flash $750. in CASH under his nose...... The Worst he can do is say No.......

Hmmm...You do know that with this type of boat, you will not be able to hit the water for some time. While not a boat builder, I think the amount it will cost you to add rebuilt motor and the goodies, you would be better off just buying a newer used boat with new motor. For example, I have a fresh water use only fish/ski bowrider with brand new V6 (with warranty) in perfect condition and I am selling for $5,800 with trailer. These type of deals are everywhere (even w/bass boats.

Also, I am sure Skeeter is not 100% composite being that it is 21 years old. Rot and other surprises are likely. I would keep looking or mark a lot of weekends off your calendar for your rebuild.

I agree with the above posts. I've been watching used boats heavily for the last year as I made a purchase last winter. I watched the paper, ebay.. you name it.

The price of the boat is in the ballpark from what I've seen. You have to be very careful with this age of boat (the boat I bought was an '84). Most (all that have sat outside) have floor ect. problems, so you have to be careful. Well kept older boats are out there - mine was kept inside and had low hours. The only downside to mine is it has sat quite a few years without running. You might do OK with the Skeeter since you are putting your current engine on it. Assuming it is in pretty good condition, the price is what I've been seeing them go for.

Jeff

You said "He says the floor and transom are solid". Make sure that you verify this. Remember he is the seller.
