I have a good friend that unfortunately had a little meeting with a steel corner by the lift in a marina. Can anyone give me an idea on what you "think" he should pay for this repair?

The hole is 3" wide by 2" high and all the way through the side of the boat. The hole is open into the cabin.

Let me know what everyone thinks?

That should buff right out the next time your buddy waxes his boat!

Prices are region and area specific most times and it's hard to say if we're not from your area.

Does your buddy have insurance? If not he may want to consider fixing it himself, it'll be a lot cheaper and he'll probably get a better quality job.

It all depends on the type of hull and access to the structure t o make the repair. there are 2 ways...sweat and materials or the REPAIR MAN. Without more def on the boat structure,
location, ease of access, a $$ number is hard to pull off. Also if you're particular then there is the escalation factor for perfect match. Then last but not least is your boat deduct. if you go that way.
Best way be friends and work it out together as a team. It's minor but a pia. Good Luck.

Thanks everyone...We are in Long Island NY so I'm not sure what the cost would be. He threw the question out to me being I do most of my own glass work. I'm not sure what they quoted him but I would have no idea where it should be for a cost. From looking at it the inside table wall needs to be removed, the bed needs to be removed, fabric pulled back just to get to the hole from the inside. You can reach it by hand but definitely cant get to it to work on it.

Does anyone have an idea as to what it might cost? any guess would help just so I can give him an idea. For some reason I see me helping him on this...

Looks like your buddy is most likely looking at a $500+ repair. Its not the materials that will get you, but the labor. Resin, mat, gel-coat, and pigment to color match the gel-coat will run about $100 then several a couple of hours of grinding, prepping, sanding and painting.
