I currently have a 135hp merc on a 17' cajun. I have a 19p prop. Running at about 5600 rpm and 54 to 55 mph. How much increase in speed would i gain by going to a 23p. Or would that drop my rpm down to much. Should i go with a cuped 21. And again about how much speed would i gain by it. IF anyone could help me on this i would greatly appriciate it.

23 is too steep. 5600 is a good number. I'd try a 20" stainless, either a Laser or a Trophy if that 19 is aluminum. As you go steeper, RPMs drop and Hp is made with RPMs. The thinner blades of a stainless often allow you to increase pitch by an inch without losing RPMs, and gain a few mph. That motor likes up to 6000 RPMs.

Thanks Willy. I have a 19 stainless quicksilve on their now. Just wondering if a 21p ss would give me an additional 5 or more mph?

Nope, and it most likly will be a pig out of the hole. I think that any increase in speed now will only come from the set up. IE Raising the engine.

5 MPH is a "HUGE" gain on the water.
