How much thrust ?

I have a 12' Harbourcraft aluminium,it's about medium weight,it's rated for a 15hp.I looking to pick up a trolling motor,how much thrust do I need or more to the point,want? thx

If just a fishing positionig motor a 30lb would be minimum for me. If it is also the primary motor, you might want some additional thrust.

Your choices range from about 30# to a maximum of 55#. Anything over 55 requires two batteries since they are 24 volt motors. If you have no gas engine, go for the 55 since it is your primary power source. If the pond/lake your are on is small, the 30/40# will be fine.
