Zool, that data sheet is pretty interesting. The only thing they don't cover IS the HVLP spray gun tip size and air pressure. Usually a data sheet even covers the tip size for their primers and base paints. A 1.4mm to 1.5mm tip size is on the small size for primers. So it may take a little more thinning then 5%. But I would start there as well. Usually 1.8mm to 2.0mm is a good primer tip. But not absolutely necessary if you can work with the material to be sprayed. But thanks for linking the datasheet. I was interested in how it compares to PPG JP202 2k primers or even Epoxy primers. JMHO!
Yea GM, I always try to post the tech sheets, if more ppl followed them, there would be less mishaps.
Im not a big fan of thinning primer too much, being that its the adhesion layer....any residual solvents lessen the effect, imo.....but ive sprayed this primer a few times...cant remember exactly the ratio, but its not real thick like a build primer....it flows more like an epoxy, so the lesser tips work fine
And few tech sheets can compare to PPG's P-sheets they give it all and more
For boats, my choice would always be PPG acrylic U or Alexseal for Poly...
