How much water pressure is too much, for running on the hose?

This is something I have wondered about for years, when running your I/O on the water hose, some say use full water pressure, some say it's too much, use 1/2 open, so I got curious and bought a water pressure gauge. I found that my household water pressure is 90 psi, and it doesn't matter if it's half open or full. While that's probably great for my 6 zone sprinkler system, what about for the boat? I have to change the water pump seal on my Cobra, and I wonder if this is just too much pressure? Yes excess water spurts out around the muffs, but I'm still curious.
Thoughts?

I wouldn’t worry about it any excess will blow out the muffs

Is that a dead head measurement? 90 is... well very good for a water service (we only get about 72 in our system.)

At work I've run on the booster service which is around 120 psi... it's just going to leak out the muffs imo. Not an issue.

You have a great shower I bet.
Full open half open pressure is the same opening the valve just increases flow.

It would be interesting to find out how much your water pressure is when there is another tap wide open. I'm saying this because the water pressure is a nice thing, but what you need to know is how much volume you have with the tap open.

you must be close to the water tower. Do you get water hammer when the washing machine valve closes?

Newer construction will have a reducing station in the house, but what you mention is pretty typical for public water. the 3 homes we have owned on city water have all had 75-90 psi .

Long Island uses ground water & pumping stations so there aren’t a lot of water towers but there are some…

I adjust the water so that a bit comes out the side of the muffs while the engine is running.
No use wasting water since it is getting expensive in Arizona

Our neighborhood used to be 110 psi, never blew a seal or any issue feeding a boat on muffs.

It did force the toilets to run. Ended up with PRVs on the toilets

A few years back, a main blew feeding the neighborhood. After that, the pressure is now 75 psi

You're fine at 90
