Re: how much water should impeller be putting out

On muffs there should be enough stream of water coming out of the snout while a little misting or little stream from the nostrils. However, on water there should be stream from the nostrils even at idle speed. If there is none then it is time to investigate the thermostat and water ports. But before doing that make sure the overtemp sensor is working properly. Feel the water coming out of the nostrils, is it hot (like 160~180 degrees? The sensor is designed to go off around 180 degrees. If it is then it is working properly and time to check the thermostat and water ports for clogs or scaling.

Refresh our memory. Did you replace the impeller?
What have you done?

Install a telltale and "know" your impeller is ok.

Re: how much water should impeller be putting out

The impeller was supposed to have been changed right before I purchased the boat about 3 months ago. I have been reading up on how to remove the lower unit to inspect the impeller and exhaust housing. When its in tge water at idle it sputters and has a small stream when running half speed.

Not sure if this helps
