Getting ready to replace the deck around the motor and a seat frame that was mush!

Thankfully I have a specialty wood supplier two miles from my house. Of all the choices...which wood do you recommend for deck, seat frame etc. Same for both? Also, what is the going rate...I expect to pay more than builder grade but how much?

In the pic you can see part of the seat frame that was actually still wood, the deck area is right next to the motor so I want it strong and I don't want to go back in there anytime soon!

The stringers are solid and I'm hoping the motor mount block is good as well, the deck rot mostly came from repeated soakings from wet swimmers, it was the entry point from the swim deck, has anybody ever heard of TOWELS    !

I can't really see whats in the pix. Is that the port side facing the stern? Anyway I think I know what you're saying. As far as wood. You could use at least a 3/4" exterier plywood with one smooth side for the decking, making sure ALL SIDES are covered with an epoxy, and glassed. Was 3/4" used originaly for the deck? The seat frame you can also use 3/4", but 1/2" glassed with epoxy would be ok. Marine Ply is best, but unless I had a wood boat, and was replacing the hull or transom, marine grade (in my opinion) is over kill.

The picture is looking towards the stern on the starboard side. The original wood was 1/2 with glass. The seat frame is on the left in the pic. My question is even for marine ply there are several to choose from, which one and how much. Don't want to do this again.

Don't know how many different types of marine ply there is (except for thr thickness) But expect to pay OVER $100.00 a sheet for marine grade. About 35.00 for a good exterier ply 3/4" By the way, marine ply will rot just as fast as regular exterier ply if not properly covered.

you can use 5 ply 1/2 exterior plywood. do as mark said. slip some splice pieces under each end of the opening and screw to existing floor then screw patch to the splice pieces this gives you support. don't screw thru the hull.
