I just bought a 14' boat with a 1981 7.5 hp johnson seahorse. the motor dont push the boat very fast. the boat is rated for a 25 hp motor, so I would like to find a 20 or 25 horse, dont really matter which. The 7.5 horse runs great starts great, real good motor. how much $ is it worth. and how much would a good 20 or 25 horse motor be worth. <br /><br /> thanks

You might get $300-600 for that motor, depending on condition and local market.<br /><br />As far as a 20 or 25, depends again on local market availability and how new of a motor.<br /><br />The late model motors sold here on iboats are at a good price, and you won't spend 6 months hunting for a motor. Or you could even get a 9.9 Evinrude, 77-81 and slap on a 15hp carb. Mine runs 24mph with just me and the 14' jonboat.
