I wonder how long before it's filled with water. This thing has been sitting like this for a few weeks now.

now you never know.....could be couple of options

1) he has a drain plug in the bow

2) he lives where global warming is at it's greatest and it doesn't rain...or quickly evaporates

I have to snap a picture of the boat down the street that got in so much water it bent the axel and crushed the trailer

And yet they leave it like that AND keep buying NEW tarps

Re: How NOT To Store Your Boat

I went to look at a boat for sale years ago that had been stored like that. It was a plywood runabout and it was *FULL* of partially frozen water and the keel was broken where it sat across one of the trailer rollers. When I showed it to him, he said, "oh, that must have happened when the water froze and got heavier..." !?

price went from $500 to free and I salvaged a decent running merc 40 and a usable trailer.

I looked at a 19ft SeaRay a guy has for sale near me.Been sitting for 2 years with a cover thats all rotted and the boat is full of leaves and mildew.I asked about engine maintenance and he just gave me a dumb look
I offered him 2500 for it and he laughed and said 6000 would be as low as he would go.
I got in the truck and drove off.2500 was giving him a good deal in that condition.Idiot!
3 months later and its still in his yard with that same rotted cover...GEEZE!
I did offer him a brand new 300 dollar cover for 100 bucks...he passed on that.

Re: How NOT To Store Your Boat

I went to an estate sale just down the road, this older man had an old glastron tri hull with a mid 90's 25hp Johnson on it. Now I half to say the boat was in a garage I give the man that, but he had it loaded down with junk. He was asking $1400 for the hole boat (the motor alone may of been worth it), but I guess he may of had the junk in there for a reason to cover what might of been a bad floor lol. If you are going to sell a boat at least clean the junk out of it, if you are going to store a boat don't use it for storage in the first place. Rats and everything else start nesting in the darn things.

This old 57 whitehouse I have out back use to sit under my cousin's carport uncovered and once again loaded with junk. A boat is not a good storage area lol come on.
