Re: How often do you decarb???
How often depends on how much coking (black carbon) is building up. Coking is related to a combonation of things from fuel to set up to ring type to combustion temps. The higher the combustion temp is, the quicker it'll form to the point of breaking a ring.
We've seen coking form and break rings in as little as 19 1/2 hours. Performance motors (not necessairly race motors) rarely, if ever, form coking.
If your motor is set up so wot, with an average load, is in the upper part of the rpm range, you use the correct spark plugs and run the correct octane you might not ever have to decarb.
If you're lugging the motor you might have to decarb a lot.
