How the heck can I manually turn the crank on my Mercruiser 120?

I need to adjust the rocker arms after I reinstall the head on my engine, but there's no good way to grab the crank pulley. Best way? I could remove the pulley and bolt a piece of steel with a nut onto it- not a lot of clearance between the end and motor mount, though. I guess I could make a 3/8" square hole in the strap and make sure I have enough depth to use a ratchet wrench.

What seems like the best option?

Thanks

Make sure the belt is tight and use a piece of square bar across the water pump pulley screw heads.

Remove spark plugs, over-tighten the alternator belt, then turn the engine over with the alternator pulley nut.

Use the starter, locate the intake rocker ,rotate engine until intakes opens and closes. Now your on the compression stroke and adjust both valves. Do the same for the other rockers
