After pre-loading the bearings, how tight do you tighten the spindle nut? I read an article that says finger tight.

i tighten mine up 1/2 turn past finger tight with a wrench, then back it all the way off and do it fingertight again. If the cotter holes dont line up, ALWAYS back it off instead of tightening it to line the holes up. everything should move freely, but not slap and slide around.

I usually do 1/4 turn past finger tight then spin the wheel. I should spin free with no resistance. Then take the palms of your hands and put them on opposing sides of the tire after it is mounted and make sure there is no movement in or out. It should spin but not feel loose on the axle. You just don't want to over tighten the nut.

no more than 12 ft-lbs. use a small pair of pliers. after spinning it, loosen it. Then finger tight. put in the cotter pin.
