How To? 5.7 GXI Alternator and Serpentine Belt Replacement

Hi, I have a 2006 Four Winns deckboat with a Volvo Penta 5.7 GXI. I would like to know if there are any DIY videos and/or instruction for replacing the alternator and serpentine belt? If there is, could you please point me in the right direction? Thanks. Ray

It`s fairly easy. Take a picture of the back of the alternator and the belt pathway for reference. Put a socket on the tensioner pulley and rotate it to loosen, pull the belt off the pulley. This will free the alternator for replacement. If replacing the belt, you will need to remove the water hoses to the pump to pull the old one off, unless you cut it, but definitely to put the new one on. Install the alternator, wire as before, then route the belt, put socket back on the tensioner and wrap belt around it. Reinstall water hoses, done.

Just to add to this, mine has a metal rod that connects to the impeller housing. Unfortunately, that has to come off to change the belt on mine. Just removing the hoses isn't enough. I have a gi-300-j.

yes, you have to remove the anti-rotation bracket.

Thank you to all...... This is all far to easy. I remove the housing and impeller at the end of every season for winterization therefore, this will be the best time for replacement. On the water would be a little more challenging. Once the impeller housing is removed the anti-rotation bracket should be able to stay in place. Thanks again, appreciate the help.
