Just changed the impeller, but before I put it back on I am going to get the oil so there is NO WAY I forget to put it back in.. I understand it has to be put back together first, but not sure how to fill it? I think I saw somewhere there is a tool for it? Anyway to do without tool? Also what weight? I looked it up and saw 80w90, is that right? and about 1 2/3 quarts? Its a MC1 outdrive. Thanks

You will need a pump - you can buy it pretty much wherever you can buy the gear oil. You take out the two plugs - one at the top and one at the bottom. You fill it from the bottom till it comes out the top. Then you put the top plug back in with a new gasket, then remove the pump and quickly put the bottom plug back in with a a new gasket.

Don't fill the drive while it's on it's side, it needs to be upright, and filled like Fisher mark says from the bottom.

No tool needed

Its a bit messier than using the $6 pump, however you can simply shove the tapered bottle cap in the lower hole and squeeze. When the bottle gets near empty, grab the next bottle, stick your finger over the vent hole and switch bottles. Remove finger off vent and squeeze the new bottle. Repeat as needed.

When filled, consolidate the half empty bottles.

With the pump, it is easier

Thanks guys! Sorry I didn't reply earlier, was at the zoo with the family all day yesterday... Have to visit the in laws sometimes! lol Was our company picnic so I either had to go or I had to go into work, so I chose the zoo, plus the kids had a blast!

Anyways, bought the pump, the lower unit was a PITA to get back on, but its back together, muffs on and running great!!!!! I do have one more question, what is this in the the engine? My temp gauge is staying low, where it should be, and everything in the engine I can place my hand on EXCEPT this, it is really hot.. Is this normal??

that is your exhaust riser. temp should be about 160-180 degrees max.
