how to adjust the idle speed?

i just overhauled the carbs and replaced the plugs. but the idle speed is at 1400rpm. do i need to adjust the idle speed? if so were and how? 87 150gt

You need to do a link&sync as per manual specs. If you do that and it still idles too fast then back off the idle timing a bit.

there should be a section on setting the link and sinc, in the manual, what if does is, synchronises the electrical timing and the the carbs so they work together, properly. it must be done in the step by step process in the manual.

thanks i have a manuel by cylmers is it in that maunel or do i need another.

it would not idle that much faster, idle on muffs should be around 800-850, which usually works to 650-700 in the water in gear. thats where it should idle, at 1400, puting it into gear will damage the lower unit. also could cause a runaway engine, that can't be shut down, except by running out of gas.
