How to change fuel filter in fuel pump

I've got the fuel pump with internal fuel filter.<br /><br />The bowl looks to be held on by clips.<br /><br />Specs: Alpha One 3.0<br /><br />Does anyone have any idea how to get the clips/bowl off and replace the internal filter?<br /><br />ScAndal

I think that pump uses a locking wire under it,through the nut.Remove the wire(if one),un-screw the nut and move the retainer to the side and drop the bowl.Clean all well,replace the gasket & filter element,and assemble in reverse order.Run on hose and CHECK 4 LEAKS!

The most important part in serviceing one of those pumps is be for anything DISCONNECT THE BATTERY many fires and injuries have been caused by the filter bail arcing on the solenoid post

Thanks for the tips, especially the life saving ones <br /><br />I tried to feel under the fuel pump since it is so low and it felt like there was something that could be removed at the bottom. I'll try to get a flashlight and mirror under there tonight and hopefully get that off and cleaned.<br /><br />I'll keep you posted,<br /><br />ScAndal

you will find in most cases its simply eaiser to remove the pump.<br /> its how I do 99% of them.
