Hey guys, new to the board here, and new boat owner. So, please bear with me...

I'm changing lower unit oil on my bravo 3. I found the lower oil (fill) port, but not the upper (vent) one. The only other port I can find is located near the very top of the outdrive. Is that it?

If so, do I fill the unit with oil until it comes out of the top (vent port)? That seems like alot of oil! How much oil goes into the Bravo 3 lower unit?

Thnaks!

Just did my alpha 1 today. it takes 64 oz of lube oil. the vent is near the top of the lower unit on the same side as the lower plug not above the cavitation plate as on an outboard.

does it have the optional lube monitor cup on the engine? if so make sure you fill that too.

do you have a manual?

It takes about 2 us quarts if you don't have a gearlube monitor and about 3 quarts if you do.You do fill it from the bottom till the oil comes out the vent screw (starboard side about 2 inches from top of drive ).
Its a good idea if you have a monitor to change that oil to .You can let it drain out with through the gearcase with the rest of the lube(this takes time, leave it overnight) or you can speed it up by removing it from the bracket and pouring it out.If you have a monitor fill the leg the same till the oil comes out the vent then replace the screw then fill the monitor in the boat to the fill line .
Also don't forget to replace the fill and vent washers.
