I can not find a manual for the 2 stroke motor. Any help would be great . Batteries run down after about a month.

This might cover your motor, though it seems that it was printed in '97:

Good luck, Peter

Not unusual as the rect/reg draws a small amount of juice even when off.

Use your voltmeter- measure voltage at the battery terminals. With the outboard off, a charged battery will show a voltage of slightly higher than 12 volts. With the outboard running at idle, you should see a slight increase in voltage. As you increase rpms, you should see an increase in voltage, up to almost 15 volts. Any readings out of these specs indicates a problem with the charge system. If you feel that your battery is self-discharging at an abnormally high rate, have the battery load tested. As a rule, most marine flooded batteries begin to show high rates of self-discharge after 3 - 5 years (this is dependent on battery quality and usage, of course).

Thanks for the replys. I put my meter on it just like bilge rat jim suggested and on fast idle it was putting out 14 plus volts. Thanks again

14 volts is higher then a normal battery reading so yes your alternator on your engine IS charging the battery. But there still could be a current capacity issue being how one or more diodes in that rectifier circuit could be open. It would still output a higher voltage but have current issues. Probably not, but if you do have your battery load tested and it checks out good, then suspect the rectifier for a problem... If I were to bet, I would suspect a battery problem at this time but depending on the load test results, it could be rectifier also. JMHO!

I looked at an online parts manual and do not see a "rectifier". Batteries were new 3 months ago so I would like to test the rectifier. Thanks
