how to check if tach is accurate???

Just wondering how to check a tach for accuracy do I have to get another tach to check it against or is there a meter I can use????

A lot of timing lights have built-in tachometers. You can rent one at many auto parts stores.

I got a relatively cheap used portable inductive tach on ebay last fall. I use it to set idle speed timing during link and sync, as the dash tach is not precise enough for the 650-750rpm idle spec. It measures both a low RPMs and high RPMs so would suffice for checking your in dash tach gauge as well.​

I just checked ebay and found the exact same tach on auction. This will give you an idea as to what I am talking about.​
