how to check the compression on outboard?

Hi, i see that alot of people mention about checking the compression. How do i check mine? do i need to get a special equipment? I have a 89' 85hp force outbord.

All you need is a compression gauge. Available right here on iBoats or your local auto parts store.

Cool, how do i hook it up also, for my motor what is the compression suppose to be?

You need to disconnect and ground the plugs, jumper the neutral start switch and place the trottle in WOT position. Compression should be @150#. It is detailed in the Clymer Force Outboard Shop Manual that you need to buy.
