I just pulled the gas tank out of my 20 foot Slickcraft, and it has a few gallons of very old gas which I will despose of properly, but how do I get the tank clean, so that I won't have problems when I put in fresh gasoline? Thanks for the help.

Go axe your wife if she has any old sheets.
For the portable 6gallon jobbies, you can use a T-shirt. But those big ones require more cloth :)
You need to stuf the entire sheet into the tank,EXCEPT for the very end of one corner.
Leave it in there overnight, and turn the tank every couple hours, until you go to bed.
Take it out with the tank upside down (as best as you can) to prevent wringing-out the sheet as you pull it thru the spout.
It really does a great job...Unfortunately, it does a number on the sheet too.

As my memory turns to dust I seem to recall someone (sorry I forgot who it was but it was good advice) said to use nuts and bolts to clean the inside of a fuel tank. They are cheap and work like a good abrasive when placed into a tank and shakened (not stirred Mr. Bond prefers it that way ). Using nuts and bolts will also allow you to keep count of what goes in and comes out not to mention if one gets elusive you can use a magnet to retrieve it.

After you clean your tank refill it (full) and add Stabil.

Happy Thanksgiving.

Bob :D

i think it was atwood that made a fuel tank cleaner/sealer kit. we used to use it on motorcycles was easy to use and worked real well. worth looking into if your tank shows any rust.
