How to Clean / Repair Lowrance EP-60R Fuel Sensor ?

Guys,

I had an LMF 200 Gauge and EP-60R Fuel Senor installed in my boat three summers ago (Chaparral Sunesta 252 with 5.0 EFI Mercruiser / Bravo III). The unit has worked flawlessly, however yesterday the fuel flow monitoring started acting up... the flow numbers displayed on the gauge seem to bounce around randomly from zero to normal numbers with most of the time the gauge showing ZERO as the flow rate.

I assume that debris and/or a bad sensor are the only possible causes, yes? If it's debris, is there any special way to remove, inspect and confirm this cause? If it is debris will I see it? Is there a way to clean this sensor?

If the transducer is a turbine wheel, it is very likely some debris has jammed the turbine. It is also possible the turbine wheel itself has come apart. Remove the transducer and use a pen light to look into the transducer (light on one side and view from the other). If the turbine wheel is damaged you should be able to see. DO NOT blow compressed air through the transducer as it will be destroyed. Blow gentley with your mouth only while watching the display. You should be able hear a slight whine as you blow. No reading, damaged turbine wheel or jammed wheel means you need a new transducer.
