can i use engine degreaser and water to clean the grease off my outboard powerhead?

Engine degreaser is good if you wash it off right away. If not, it will corrode any unpainted cast aluminum it touches. Do not use Castrol SuperClean. It is awesome stuff, but it will take the ink off any internal decal stickers, and it will corrode any bare metal it touches, and will foul up a carb pretty bad if it gets in it.

I believe CRC makes a good degreaser. Its the one made for electronic cleaning but works excellent on any type of grease on your powerhead and it doesnt need washing off/ it evaporates. This is not that<br />foamy garbage. Should be able to get it from most marine stores.
