How to clear out water pump lines

year 2000 Optimax 150. Been getting intermitten over heat buzzer but telltale and pump seem to be working fine. I will be checking and replacing impeller this week and want to make sure any debris in the lines is cleared out as well. What is the best way to do that? Blowing air? If so through where?

Don't know if this is the way the pros do it - but I went to my local hardware store and bought some plastic hose fittings, with barbs that fit a couple of sizes of plastic tubing. Then used the tubing (size that fit each hole best) to shoot water in the openings (in and out) in the thermostat housing and through the tell-tale - kind of a reverse flush.
