how do i know if i have a long shaft or short shaft....outboard....? and where exactly do i take the measurements...? tx

What motor and year? On the older motors, there was a 5 inch extension section just above the lower unit.

measure from the place where the motor will rest on the transom - downward to where the transom would be, and if you are about 15 inches when perpendicular to the cavitation plate, it is short shart - 20 inches - long shaft.

If you have a long shaft Gamefisher, you have a rare bird indeed. I don't know if they even made them (???)
