Hi Everyone...Have new OEM carb kits and proceeded to remove carbs on my 1982 50 HP Johnson. Noticed a small wire type connector coming from electric choke up to carb, How is this disconnected for carb removal? Do you remove entire electric choke assembly? Any help greatly aprreciated!

I'm not familiar with your particular engine, but I'd imagine there are bullet connectors on the wires to the primer solenoid which you can disconnect. After that don't be shy, just remove whatever is in your way (after taking plenty of photos so you can put it all back the way it was).

Thanks Guys for the replies. Sorry Metric, I should have described it better. After looking at it closer, it's actually a long spring, not a wire as in electrical. You nailed it Daviet. I thought it might be a tiny O-ring, but it has white paint on it - I guess from the Johnson factory, so I didn't want to go pulling on it too much not really knowing what kind of material the retainer was made of. Getting late now, so I'll remove them tmrw. Thanks again for the help!

They are a white o-ring, I have replaced them with a black one.
