I just purchased a 1986 40hp evinrude, the guy had disconnected the oil injection. So when I start the motor run for a couple minutes, alarm beeps, I thought it was overheating alarm, but the motor is cool to touch, and water coming out is cool. I think it is oil injection alarm, can it be disconnected? Any ideas greatly appreciated. I have no experience with oil injection, thanks.. Sam

Find the wires coming out of the vro and follow them to a connector and disconnect it. If the oil tank is still in the boat, disconnect them also. Cap off the fitting where the oil line went to the vro. And then, make sure you use 50:1 premix fuel.
