What should I use for a floor on an 18' 1976 starcraft aluminum hull. It has cedar stringers wrapped with thin aluminum channel. I heard pressure treated is a no no on aluminum. I want rain to go through the floor and out the hole in the back of the boat when it sits in the yard. This way air circulates under the floor preventing any rot. How tight should I get the floor to the walls? Should I connect the floor to the walls? If so, how? I figured on leaving a space between the walls and the floor, but I don't want to loose stuff like keys and lures in the gap. I also don't want to put in carpet.

Do you have any pics? In the meantime, there are many, many starcraft restoration threads to provide some guidance. I am wondering about the cedar stringers... from what I have seen on here, most tinny's have aluminum stringers with no wood from the factory aside from the actual plywood deck. I'm sure more experience folks will chime in soon.

My Sylvan did not have wood in the aluminum stringers. I have read many, many threads before I started my rebuild and never seen this done. That dose not mean that it may not have been done. I have 3/4" exterior grade plywood for my floor. You will need to seal the wood.
You should also add floatation. The floor is attached to the stringers and not the walls.

Check out the rebuild threads for Starcraft/ Sylvan/ Smokercraft along with the other aluminum deep v's you can find on this site.
