I need to find the pitch of the prop on my 1990 90hp johnson vro v4. It has a stainless steel 3 blade on there now. I checked the inside of the prop hub and on the outside of the prop and there are no numbers.
Also what is the best stainless steel prop to get? Will a 4 blade make the boat faster and give it a better hole shot? What is the most reasonable place to purchase it that still sells a good product? I didnt pay to much for the boat and dont want to sink alot of money into it. I just want to be able to have fun this summer with the kids sking and tubing..thanks

Re: How to find the pitch of the prop.

Most Johnny 90HP powered boats would use a 15 or 17" pitch prop, I would think. I find it hard to believe there is no markings, however. Maybe you can take it to a place that sells props and match it up.

Do you really need a SS prop? They are very expensive compared to aluminum, and provide a small performance upgrade over aluminum, in the same style prop. SS props do come in high performance styles that are NA in aluminum.

Ask your questions on the Prop forum. iBoats was running a sale on aluminum props, a few weeks ago. I bought one for my speedboat, and it has good performance characteristics, similar to a Rapture I own. Maybe the sale is still on.

Type boat and length? Take a look at the Solas line up stainless props. I recently purchased an HR Titan 4 blade stainless for my shallow water bay boat. 4 Blade will give a little better fuel economy and hang on better in rough water.

boats.net is having a big sale on Solas.
