I just finished painting my outboard, this is my first and it came out really nice but i went a little heavy in some spots and was wondering if anyone can tell me the best way to fix these few sags.

They are not real big but i can notice them easily.I guess i'm more worried about it peeling off then anything. So i just finished like an hour ago and did not want to touch it while it was wet.The paint is phantom black by mercury. It says fully cured in 24hrs.I am going to put a clear coat over it also so i want to fix the sags first of course. The can of clear coat says i can apply it anytime so i'm not worried about that. It's marine clear coat.So any help would be great thanks.

I guess my question is should i let it dry completely, maybe wet sand the few areas after it dries. If i can live with it will it be ok or will it peel off?

Ya you need to wet sand that, 2000 grit paper and USE A BLOCK, if you don't you are almost sure to screw it up.

For really small spots and sags like you have I have a block cut in half so you are working a small area,, work it for a little bit, dry it and inspect, if it is still there repeat until it is gone, the clear will cover the sand marks, you won't even see them.

Also important to let the paper soak for 15-20 mintes before you use it adn use a new clean container for the water, I once had an entire car react because I used an old bucket for the water and it had something in it.

Don't know how much you paint but with the clear use a really light coat first and let that set up for 10 minutes then finish, againif you get a run it is no big deal just sand it out and buff.

You might want to ask Tammy Fae Baker.
