how to fix steering system? (new system, on old stuff)

heres the stuff:

engine was a tiller setup, adapted to remote, im trying to get the steerng stuff working now. I had the cable though the hole in the splashwell, but it was way to tight of a turn for it.

so i took it off, and layed it in there, and now it fine. (the enging can lift properley, and turn fully both ways)

but I dont like that cable hanging there like that, I would like it in there somehow.

ideas to make this work?

Run it on the outside of the hull?

i would redo the transom elevator, get rid of as much angle as you can. and mount one of these adapters, gets the cable into a better place to make the turn.

you dont like the angle?

it makes for one strong *** high jack plate.
