How to fogg a MPI engine?

I have a '98 Mercruiser FWC 7.4 liter with MPI and am not clear on the fogging method and yes, I have a OEM service manual -on order- but I do not have it yet.
How do I do this and can I coordinate this fogging with flushing my raw water side with anti-freeze before it stops running?

Re: How to fogg a MPI engine?

Thanks for the service bulletin.

I got all of the "stuff" ready as described in the bulletin but I could not get the fuel line off of the fuel filter. It is a flexible hose with a yellow insert or ring on I suppose a barbed fitting with two hose clamps fastening it. I'm concerned that if it takes this much effort to remove the line (every year to fog) that I might be damaging the hose and risking a fuel leak down the road. I can't see cutting the line off every year either.

I'm starting to doubt if I even need to fog this way, or at all. I want to do things correct and my intent is to protect for winter layup of 5 months. Any suggestions?

You don't have a standard hose barb on there. That yellow ring indicates to me that it's a push on hose fitting with deep sharp barbs. It really should be replaced with the proper fitting if you want to remove the hose yearly, or at least remove the fitting and grind the real steep sharp barbs off the fitting so you can remove the hose next year.
Those sharp barbs also cuts the inside of the hose when the hose is clamped.
With as much moisture as there is in Ketchikan, I would strongly suggest you run the mixture thru it. Plus, it has stabilizer in the fuel to protect those VERY expensive fuel injectors ....................... But it's your choice.

I do like your logic though, if it's a difficult job, it must not be necessary
