How Difficult is it to get a VP 5.0 Lake Ready Including Oil Change and Maintenance Ready For the Lake Along with the outdrive, Cause Next year I want to Do everything Myself Im 18 yrs Old, & I love the Boating World, I really Want to get to know my Engine, This Boat got passed on to me by My Grandpa I dont Want to Pay For Labor Like I did this Summer, I want to Get Ready For summer 2013! Thanks! I appreciate all Answers! :D
Boat is A 2004 Glastron SX 195, VP 5.0 GL-E

If you are mechanically inclined, then it would be wicked easy.

I would recommend getting the shop manual for the engine and reading through it. There are "Clymers" and "Seloc" after market manuals, or you could just get the one from Volvo-Penta.

you will probably save about $500 per year and then maybe another $500 per year on repairs.

You can get the manuals for free on this forum. Check the stickies on top. Oil change is easy, you need a pump that's less than a hundred bucks and a gear oil pump that's like 10 bucks for the lower unit and a drip pan for the gear oil and you are go. It's not too difficult if you are relatively handy.
