ehlo Gentlement.

The abitious project for the winter (rainy season in GA) is the got the rusty trailer cleaned up and repainted.
Its a steel U-channel single axle bunk trailer with a 19ft Aristocraft I/O on it.
I have a driveway and an engine hoist at my disposal.

Thinking of lowering the front of the trailer and putting something under the boat to support it.....
May need to pull the boat off the trailer a little to get enough space....
Once the back is in the air, I can hook up the engine hoist to the bow and just lift is up from the side and slide the trailer from underneath.

Any holes in my great plan?

You're on the right track. Hose the bunks down (unless you have a roller system) tie the back of the boat to something stationary and pull forward about a foot, slightly lift and block the rear of the boat, then lifting the bow from the side you can pull the trailer out. Don't forget to add some blocks to stabilize the boat so it wont fall.

On paper it sounds like it should work, use good blocks and if you aren't on a hard surface get some plywood pads down to help spread the load so it doesn't sink in and fall.

I say Go for it !

I blocked my 32', see avatar, several years ago in my gravel driveway to paint the bottom with epoxy sealer and anti-fouling protection. Worked great using concrete blocks below the stern and concrete blocks plus 4x4 wooden blocks along the keel. As you pull the trailer out - make sure the keel is supported on blocks as well as your engine lift. "Stalk" the trailer out by supporting the keel behind crossbars and axles, then pull the trailer forward a bit and again reblock the keel behind the next cross member. Repeat until you get the boat hull clear of the trailer. Takes time and patience but work safe and have an assistant with a second pair of eyes to help.

Wouldn't the legs of the engine hoist block the trailer tires ????...... also , when using an engine hoist , it will pull the bow towards the hoist as you raise it..... ;)

2 Good floor jacks, blocks and some carpet. Like they said above, tie off the rear, pull trailer out slowly, blocking as you go from the rear. Have a center V block for main support under engine area. move the front jack in and out of center path, to clear cross bracing. Jack rear up slightly to start, when its forward some of rear of trailer, to put first blocks in. Doubt the boom on your lift is long enough to still be out of the way for fenders to clear. To put it back on reverse the plan(needn't have trailer attached to car)., and have a couple people for weight on the tongue, put trailer under to last part, lower jacks and winch the balance on. Put 100's on the boat show floors this way.

I saw it done with 2 a-frame with chain hosts to lift and wide tow slings under the boat.
