How to hook up a hour meter?

I just rebuilt my 1990 Johnson 150 VRO and want to attach a hour meter to help with tracking maintenance tasks. What is the best connection for the + lead on the meter, hot when the engine is operating. Is there a wire in the harness that is easy to access?

Thanks,

Mark

Connect the positive and negative leads to the "+" and "-" terminals on ANY of the gauges. Be aware that the hour meter is siimply an electric clock. It runs anytime the ignition is turned on -- meaning it will add hours whether the engine is running or not.

I would figure out how to enrgize a relay through the an oil pressure switch, that way the meter only runs if motor is started. Sorta like fuel pump safety trigger.Oh I forgot we were talking about a two stroke here.
