How to hook up Minn Kota 74???

I BOUGHT THIS 74 lB. THRUST 24 VOLT mINN kOTA USED , IT HAS 2 RED WIRES AND 2 BLACK WIRES, I UNDERSTAND TO HOOK GROUND OF BAT #1 TO Pos.of bat #2 and then use Pos.of bat #1 and ground of bat #2 , do I wire both red wires at the motor to the one pos. wire coming from the batterys and the same with both black wires to the one black from batterys. Generally Black is negative, black is ground (so is green) and red is positive or initial current, I think your trawling motor is set up for two batteries or 12volt current.

Cooter, Yes!! both red wires go to the Pos. lead from Bat. and both black go to the Neg.lead the 74 lb. motor is a 24 volt system.

Thanx everybody for the input. I did get it hard wired with a circuit breaker and an inline fuse, so if there ever is a problem hopefully these will protect it. Thanx Again Cooter
