how to hookup power steering cooler hose

i have twin ford 460 inboards with v-drives on a CC 340 crowne with half closed fresh water cooling.over the winter i had a mechanic start the work to swap out the old shaft logs for a dripless system. in order to make room in between the engines he removed the inside exhaust manifiolds, heat exchangers, and all the coolers. unfortunately he's been awol and took a few parts with him. i've installed the dripless, reconnected the shafts/tranny and starting to put the hoses (new)and coolers back. Problem is i don't know how the PS cooler was hooked up. The hose that runs from the heat exchanger to the tstat housing is missing.
I assume my PS cooler is cooled by fresh water(coolant) since the input raw water has no fittings to hook into the PS cooler hose. to connect the PS hose do I tap the feed into the coolant hose when it leaves the heat exchanger and then tap into the tstat housing for the return? The coolant hose feeding the exchanger has one hose barb on it for the hot water heater. all this is/was on the starboard engine.
sorry for the long post, but wanted to explain as best as possible.

Being Inboards with rudders you don't need a power steering cooler. Nothing wrong with installing one, but not enough torque to produce enough heat to have it removed. In most cases an Inboard doesn't even use a power steering pump, just hydraulic lines.

Now with an inboard the transmission needs a cooler. It should be raw water cooled and would be installed on the low pressure return side

PS and oi coolers are cooled by the raw water side before it enters the engine

dodge - thanks. it isn't a new install, something that was already present.
i'm okay with the oil and trans coolers as they are cooled with raw water right after the intake strainers and raw water pump. these coolers are connected to a 1-1/4 inch hose with no reducer fittings on it. the PS hose is only 1 inch, that's how i know it wasn't connected to the raw water hose, and it had a little coolant residue in it. As far as needing it I always thought that if the starboard engine stopped i wouldn't have cooling on the PS ,which is when I probably would need it the most.
So leaving this hose unattached shouldn't cause any issues with the PS fluid? If that's the case it saves me a couple of hours of work under there.

thanks

If you do not have out drives the heat should be minimal and a cooler should not be needed. That said, do the rudders turn without the motors running?

yes fhe rudders turn without the engines running and its not a big effort to turn the wheel.
