how to identify a johnson lower unit

have no clue how to find out what this lower is. trying to use it on a 1986 25 hp the # 336201 D-1 trying to find parts and keep getting ask which lower I have well I don't know just have the #

That is a bare casting number, before any machining work is done on it.

There may been two Models of the 25 in 86.the Mainstream Consumer model, and a Stripped down Commercial/Special model, and one of the differences may have been the Gearcase. The regular 25 by 86 was using the Gearcase that used a Thru Prop Exhaust, while the Commercial/Special model used the the older non-thru Hub exhaust.

thank you for the help. lrt me give some details I purchased this motor/ e25tecdc along with 2 lower units . one of them is like new . it has a 3 dog clutch set and a 29 in shaft. that has to be the long shaft version/ the other lower is older with a 2 dog clutch. old and not useable. what I need is a drive shaft that is 24 in long with the imp key /flat at 6,625 center from the bottom . any help would be great. not having any luck

guess what I am saying is I need a short shaft that fits the 3 dog setup/ would need to be 24 in long with flat at 6.625 in

Check with a Dealer to see if the Proper length shaft can be ordered
