i have mercruiser with a 5.7 .1995 it says to take 5 inches of hose going to the impeller pump.the hose is like double walled and has fabric wound around it.If i cut it won't it weaken the hose or should i just add a piece of hose so no harm will happen?
thanks

Re: how to install a flush kit

Just a little info:

I have a Bravo 2 drive and purchased a Perko Flush kit. Just to be shure, I called Perko to make shure it would work with the Bravo. It will work, however the hitch is, you still must be able to shut off the sea water intake upstream of the Flush Kit. They told me that even at idle Rpms. there is enough suction from the water pump to open the spring in the Flush Kit and allow raw water in along with the fresh water from the hose.

Long story short, I returned the Flush Kit and after talking to some mechanics at my marina, decided not to install one at all. My marina is in brackish water, so my exposure isn't that bad.
