OK, i know this sounds fairly straightforward, but I am stumped and dont want to mess this up. I have a 2' fiberglass swim platform that is part of the boat. i bought an over the platform telescoping ladder to install, because it looks like there was originally one on there. My question is how do I go about attaching this to the platform so that it can actually hold some weight without tearing up the fiberglass. are there any anchors that should be installed?

You're thinking right, FG does NOT offer much screw support. Perhaps you can cut two (hole saw) in the bottom big enough to pass through and mount a SS or aluminum support plate and nuts. 3" or ?? what ever is bigger then your ladder mount bolt pattern. Then you can use the plug to re-seal the hole back up. Glue a popsicle stick or ?? inside the hole, to hold the plug in place. Marine-Tex the plug in, cover with piece of plastic i.e seran wrap, sandwich bag.
Hold it up in place with tape, wait 24hrs, fair and paint.
