How To Keep Bimini from Rubbing the Boat?

I was wondering what everyone is doing to keep their bimini top frame from rubbing on the fiberglass when its laid down for highway travel? I am getting ready to take a long trip and did not want to tow with the top folded and in the boot. I have support poles that I will detach and lay the top down across the back of the boat, but the poles touch the boat when down. Any suggestions?

Maybe some sort of foam pipe insulation placed over the pipes?

I was thinking about pool noodles cut to fit over the braces.

mine will fold up and fit in the cover, and then stay standing up like an arch, so if height isn't an issue, try that.
If not, old towels are made for that sort of thing.

You could always take 5 min. take it off and stow it in the boat then reinstall when prepping the boat for the trip. Mine is only a few bolts and its off and no worries about anything.

+1 on the pipe insulation cut to fit the poles while the bimini is down and being stored or trailered. Also, I use velcro straps to keep the poles secured to each other.
