How to kill during test

I sometimes jumpstart motors on a stand with muffs, only with battery cables bolted on the motors + and ground to save rectifier. Question now is, how do I easily rig some kind of kill-wire up, in case of runaway or simply just to stop motor ? Instead of letting them run out of gas, its much safer to be able to shut off. Could I make a temporary kill switch, connected to one lead in the big red plug and ground ? In that case at which pin # ?

G, each engine has it's own color kill wire. If you want to make a generic stop mechanism for carbed engines, try hooking a switch to choke (flood) the engine to stop. Otherwise, you will have to plug into the engines main harness with the proper plug connected, to kill the engine.

Thanks for the reply, Marinetech

I was just wondering if I could make a red plug with only connection to the kill wire pin for the ignition switch, to hook up to the plug to the ones i test. Isnt that always same pin ?? What do you pro´s do in shop.

By the way, its still a bit hard to get OMC parts here in DK after Bombardier took over. Many dealers, but most have second to no stock - a pain.
