I have a 17ft basstracker and am in the process of painting it. How would yall suggest I get to the parts on each side that are covered by the bunks. Jack the boat up somehow.?

Thanks

Yep jack it up from the stern and work your way forward.
Make sure you use a wood block / 2 x 4 board so not to hurt the hull. :)

First of all, isn't your basstracker aluminum? To answer your question, yes. Jack the boat up and slide the trailer out. There are numerous posts regarding this subject here and there are numerous youtube videos desmonstrating how to do it. I have done it myself, not painting but replaced the bunks. It's not hard, just use your head.

drop the tongue, block the rear, raise the tongue, block the front, lower the tongue, pull wheels off trailer and lower to ground
