Any advice on making new seat cushions would be great!

I have fiberglass 16ft and its missing the seats for the open bow and the pads around the back.

I want to use Black to make the seats. is it going to be too hot? the boat has no top or canopy.

What type of materials should i use for the cushions, backing (plywood?), and the foam?

i was planning on just using staples. I have streached lots of canvas before and this seems to work great

Just want some cheap seats. I was thinking about cutting out my own designs with the plywood to add some personal touch.

Black retains heat so yes black would make the inside of the boats temp higher.

Lighter colors generally retain less heat and are cooler. This is why most boats are made in lighter colors, or greys.

As far as construction, yeah, staples over a good outdoor grade plywood would be great. The cushions can be made of really any kind of foam that is sturdy enough for seats. I once used foam pillows i got from walmart for 3$ each to made the bottom seat cushions for a pair of seats i put in a rail buggy. They came out great and were very comfy. They were also almost the perfect size and shape already as pillows.

Good luck!
