How to prepare cast iron for paint??

I am going to be painting some new cast iron manifolds and a thermostat housing and they come sprayed with manufacturer's oil to prevent rust. What is the proper solvent to clean these before painting??<br />I have Interlux 216 solvent/thinner, Brakclean and some marine grease remover--

Sounds like you have what you need.I would start with the degreaser and follow with the brakleen(I use brake cleaner on many things),then wipe with the thinner and you are readyto paint or prime. Some light sanding would not hurt either. CC
