Just realizing my waste line is permeating a foul odor. I think I can figure this repair out except for one thing. I have observed a white caulking looking substance protruding from both ends of my waste line. It's coming from in between the waste hose and the fitting. Could it be something like 5200 to act as a glue, sealer, or both?

I would appreciate so e repair info and an explanation for the use of this stuff if anyone knows. Thanks!

Is this boat new-to-you ? If so, it sounds like someone previously has tried to seal up the lines. You could use a 5200 to seal and adhere, but even regular silicone should do the trick. Nothing really special about it.

Can you tell us a bit more about your waste system . . . got any pictures of it to share?

From the factory, many installations do not have any sealant, just a hose clamp.

If its a plastic tank, they get stinky as the plastic absorbs the foul smell. The only cure is to replace.

Re: How To Properly Connect A New Waste Tank Line???

I've owned the boat for 5 years... Was new to me back then.
Wet bowl / dry bowl hand flush system
Aluminum waste tank
Simple setup actually... I noticed a little odor in the bilge and discovered the waste hose was dingy looking, sticky to the touch and it left my hand wih an odor on it. So, obviously it's time to swap out this hose.

Actually I think you answered my question by simply confirming that it is acceptable to used an adhesive sealer on the connection with that compression clamp. It's very hot and humid today. Going to start the tear out later on, if it cools down. I hope to be doing the reinstall by tomorrow evening. If I run into problems I'll get some photos while Im in there and I'll repost. Thank for the feedback!

How is the access for pulling the old hose from the throne to the waste tank. If the hose is sticky & mushy, it might break when trying to pull it out, etc.

Hose is probably 10 feet total. I've been into the enclosed areas before and as a I recall about 75% of the waste hose is exposed. Going to get started on this project in about an hour. Thank you for the heads up. I'll be sure to be very careful when moving it around.
