how to put a new pullrope on a 4.0 deluxe?

i have a 1987 johnson 4.0 deluxe that needs a pull rope installed. can i get some help please ? local shop wants $140 to do it,,wow,,it has the side ways rewinder that the gear pops up on,,never did one like this, is there an illustration somewhere that i can see or some one could talk me through it? it also has 2 wires coming out of it like it was an electric start at once, tried to hook it up to a battery and jump it but nothing, someone help crappies about to start biting!!!

if the the rewind is still on the motor you can do it there. thread the rope on to the spool, then you can work it around the spool when you get the spool full, you can pull the rope to tighten the spring, keeping tension on the spring, you can re-loop the rope.
