how to rebuild a starter

i have a 1960's 75hp johnson super sea horse motor and the starter went out today. and they dont make it anymore so i was wondering if there is a site i can go to get a repair kit??? and directions how to rebuild it??? autolite 4103m-12v thanks

The old 18 and 25 hp starters I have worked on, I just took em apart, lightly sanded the commutator, brushes, etc. Put em back together and they work great. But if you need parts, I have no idea...

yea i kinda need some parts thanks tho here is a pic of the part that is broke on the starter

you mean the copper strand wiring? thats just terminal lead for the brushes from the looks of it, but what is all that metal dust from?
